About Us

Our History

The Fernandina Beach High School Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation that was created in 1987 by a group of civic, business, and educational leaders to provide extra funding for FBHS academics. It was the vision of former FBHS Principal Dr. William Fryar who imagined that a foundation would be successful in enhancing the quality of education at our high school.

Our Vision and Mission

Our Vision: Bridging the gap to champion academic excellence.

Our Mission: to support FBHS and promote academic excellence for all students. Through community support and resources, the Foundation fuels the education experience to further the Pirate Advantage.

Our Board of Trustees

The FBHS Foundation Board of Trustees is made up of parents, former educators, business leaders, and community members who share a passion and commitment to Fernandina Beach High School.

Our Approach

The FBHS Foundation provides grants to teachers to enhance their curriculum and classrooms and to provide creative learning opportunities. This private funding helps supplement federal, state, and local funds. The Foundation also provides school-wide grants to fund professional training, teacher collaboration, and special projects, like the newly created College and Career Center. All grants must directly impact or enhance academic excellence. These funds for the grants come from our community through events, such as Trivia Night and the Foundation Feast, corporate sponsorships, and generous private donations.
