The Fernandina Beach High School Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation that was created in 1987 by a group of civic, business, and educational leaders to provide the additional needs of FBHS that could not be supported solely by government funding. It was the vision of former FBHS Principal Dr. William Fryar who imagined that a foundation would be extremely successful in enhancing the FBHS experience.
Our Vision and Mission
Our Vision: Bridging the gap to champion academic excellence.
Our Mission: to support FBHS and promote academic excellence for all students. Through community support and resources, the Foundation fuels the education experience to further the Pirate Advantage.
Our Board of Trustees
The FBHS Foundation Board of Trustees is made up of parents, former educators, business leaders, and community members who share a passion and commitment to Fernandina Beach High School. A current list of the Foundation Board of Trustees can be found here.
Our Approach
The FBHS Foundation provides funding to enhance the FBHS experience. We call this the Pirate Advantage. This private funding helps supplement federal, state, and local funds and encompasses program and school-wide grants to that fund creative curriculum, professional training, teacher collaboration, and special projects, like the newly created College and Career Center. All funding must directly impact or enhance academic excellence. This funding comes from our community through events, such as Trivia Night and the Foundation Feast, corporate sponsorships, and generous private donations.
