The FBHS Foundation is a 501 (C)3 organization, formed in 1987 by a group of civic, business and educational leaders to provide extra funding for academics. 

It was the vision of former principal Dr. William Fryar that a foundation might be successful in enhancing the quality of education at our high school. 

The Foundation was established to be completely independent of the Nassau County School Board and is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation.


Our mission is to support FBHS and promote academic excellence for all students. Through community support and resources, The Foundation fuels the education experience to further the Pirate advantage 

What We Do

The FBHS Foundation provides private funding to help supplement federal, state, and local funds. Donations are directed in two ways: 1- to an endowment fund and 2- to an operating fund

To support continued growth, the Endowment Fund is left untouched with annual operations supported by the Operating fund.  All funds distributed through the Operating fund must directly impact or enhance academics. 

Mini Grants

At the beginning of each academic year, teachers make formal requests to the Foundation through "mini grant" applications. Following committee process, in October of each year, grants are approved and funded. During the last school year The Foundation awarded over $21,000 through the mini grant process in support of education.
